How to install a LED driver?

At Tradim, we offer several types of LED drivers, including the first round LED driver with a hole! But how do you install such a LED driver? Below you will find step-by-step instructions for each LED driver we offer.

LD40CV12D led driver instruction

Setting instruction:

• Dimmable LED driver, dimmable with phase-cut (R,C) LED dimmers.

• Constant Voltage (CV) output 12V.

• Multi-power driver: maximum power set via the dip-switch.

• Active Power factor (Pf) correction.

• Protected against short circuits and overloading.

• Dimensions: 105 Ø x 32 mm.

• Diameter of the hole is: 10 mm.

Instructions for installation (Figure A and B):

• Switch off the power.

• Strip the wires sufficiently (approx. 5 mm) and insert them into the appropriate connection terminals of the LED driver (figure A).

• Connect the LED driver according to the drawing (Figure B).

• Connect the LED driver to the dimmable lighting according to the drawing (Figure B).

• NOTE: When connecting 12V LED strips: connect the + and – poles correctly.

•NOTE: For best dimming results, the driver should be connected to an LED dimmer with phase cut-off (R,C).

• Switch on the power.

Tools:

• Fitting screwdriver/voltage finder.

• Stripper, for stripping wires.

Characteristics of this LED driver:

• Determine the total power (wattage, W) of lighting connected to the driver.

• Set the dipswitch (1) on the driver to the matching wattage.

• CAUTION: make sure that the set wattage is ALWAYS higher than the power of the connected lighting!

For example: 6 x 4W lamps = 24W. Then set the dipswitch to 30W.

• TIP: By choosing an even higher wattage, the dimming behaviour can be improved.

For the above LED drivers, the same exact installation applies. The only difference is the maximum amount of wattage.

Make sure the power is off before starting the installation. This is important for your safety and to prevent damage to the LEDs and the LED driver.

Then connect the appropriate wires to the LED driver. There are usually three main connections: input (power source), output (LEDs) and earth connections if needed. In the image below, you can see where the wires should be connected.

Make sure the wires are securely attached and correctly connected

Then attach the LED driver in a suitable place. This could be a wall, a panel or an enclosure, for example.
